I found encouragement here. I forget that I am a writer who needs to write. Strange because I am also a dancing elder who leans hard on words. And I didn’t know that Ginsberg was inspired by Francis. Impossible joy is my daily bread. I feel October in me like a kind of sink hole. It’s always an adjustment.
Great post! I have just completed my first bout of Covid (and not the PG-13 version either, very sick for three weeks) so I will say that towards the end I was entering full-on autumnal maudlin. October is beautiful but November is ... well, November.
Your re-set list looks extremely familiar - I marvel at how I know WHAT to do but somehow frequently end up not doing it. I have a tiny book which outlines the Benedictine way of life - working, contemplation etc. - but most of all I love the title: "Always, we begin again."
Dear Sue - I too am in my first Covid grip. Dodged for 4 yrs, let down my guard on a vacation. This is day 3, which felt 5k hours long. Warmth & healing to you
Oh thank you David! I'm in the Midwest where the frost is on the punkin'. No fodder shocks at my urban abode, lolol. Yeah....less daylight messes with me especially after DST ends right after the election. GULP!! I am doing some of your resets. I went to my first Halloween party with a mix of old and new acquaintances since the quarantine of '20. It felt nice, unforced. My thoughts turn to hearty stews and baking now. That helps. Trick-or-Treaters aplenty will stop by my porch next week. I enjoy making over their costumes to the delight of memaws, papaws, moms and dads. The world spins faster in my mind at 61 now. To all a pleasant night.
Your resets may be practical but they are inspirational. Thank you.

When we falter, just get back at it. There are no rules. I hope you are feeling better.
