As a member of the band, I guess I could be remembered as both a friend for reason and friend for season. However, in thinking back, at that time my only close friends were you and the other two members. I think back on those days frequently with fondness. As you said, two members were never heard from again. I admit you and I went different paths for many decades until I found the Abundance. However, in the back of my mind with your bus analogy I think I’ve always saved a seat for you. I’ll look at that bus schedule and meet you at the bus stop. There is a stop waiting for you at the reunion. Sometimes it does your soul good to come back home. Reminds me of a Bob Seger lyric. “Good friends…..Good for the Soul.
David, such a sweet note, And yes, you are both a "reason: and a "season" but I feel now that maybe there is another category -- one that may not rhyme as the others do -- a friend revitalized. Yes, we lost touch, but those days with you with you and the others made a enormous impact on me for a very long time, Reconnecting with you, even in this new-world way is something I am so very grateful for. Maybe I'll see you on the bus!
Oh, I love this so much! In my career, I moved around a lot. My colleagues and I would talk about "locationships" where you become friends (or more) simply because you were in the same place at the same time. Then once one of you left, things were never the same.
I have a very wise nephew who once observed - about "re-connecting" on Facebook - that "there's a reason you lose touch with some people." I think this is so true.
This speaks to me...in that life stage where To-Do's slow down, and we look around and ask, Where are my "close" friends? The ones whose lives I knew so well, and they knew mine, once upon a time? Your description of, it takes two, is spot on.

How true. I felt that way about high school in a lot of ways. Have deep emotions for those from that time. But that time is so long ago.
Love it when a piece of writing makes me ponder and want to respond as this one did.
Thank you, Kim. Means so much to connect with readers.

So true.
Love this!

So many people I know are in this space. Thanks for reading, as always.
