Lovely, David. I often fear I'm forgetting my deceased son, and then some image passes through my brain. It is strange. I love the idea of resending cards. I have so many. ❤️ Thanks for sharing your memory of your father and you.

I don't have any scientific lingo to support my view of the mechanics of memories.

I believe that everything we have ever done, seen, or heard is there in our brains. A memory surfaces when we get access to the experiences that are all stored somewhere in our brains. This prevents me from discouragement when I can't immediately recall something I am trying to remember, it hasn't been lost, it's just a matter of patiently waiting for it to be accessible!
