Ahh this one made me emotional. I am looking across the room at my old Martin hanging on the wall, and realize I haven't played it for almost a year. Again. I remember teaching myself, I remember being a high schooler and devoting HOURS to it, but then it just kind of faded. As you say though, I always return. What a reminder. Thank you.

Thank you for this beautiful piece on how we reclaim what we love, that has sustained us for so long. And now there are even more reasons to return and make music of the heart.

I love an old video series of Nick Drake talking about writing and the art of writing. I send it to some of my book writing clients when they are struggling (and also in the zone to appreciate him!)

There's a video of him talking about the creative process? Wow. I'm going to have to search that out. Thank you!

Wait, different Nick Drake. I think you're talking about the poet and playwright. The Nick Drake I'm referring to is the singer-songwriter from the 70s. That said, I love BOTH Nick Drakes. :)

The 2nd time you've referenced Nick Drake, someone I never heard of until writing the biography of Dave Johnston, and his sister referenced him. The unsung hero is a theme among scientists, which Dave was. He died in the 1980 Mt St Helens eruption. And now, all that St Helens taught us is being undone. The science. USAID funds a crucial worldwide collaboration called VDAP, or...it did. I loathe trump and his bro billionaires who are unraveling what took 249 years to build.

I feel ya. What worries me is that it probably has to get worse to get better. Let's hope not.
